Hollow End self catering cottage is a converted peat store and "weather end" on the west end of Satron Hall, an imposing residence dating back to 1845. It is situated in the tiny hamlet of Satron, near Gunnerside in Swaledale, one of the Yorkshire Dales National Park's most beautiful valleys. Hollow End sleeps between 2 and 4 people.

The self catering accommodation faces west with wonderful views of Shunner Fell and Upper Swaledale. The sunsets can be spectacular.

The area is excellent for all kinds of walking, with open moorland, limestone country and the old lead-miners' green tracks. It has also become very popular with mountain bikers as there are routes of all degrees of difficulty. The whole Dales area is a naturalists and ornithologists paradise. Anyone interested in the history of lead mining will find the whole area fascinating.

Swaledale, and its immediate neighbors Arkengarthdale and Wensleydale were used in the filming of James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small".

Though unspoilt by modem building, Swaledale does have shops and the usual amenities. There are many wonderful country pubs including "Tan Hill," England's highest. Satron is one mile from Gunnerside, two miles from Muker, seven miles from Reeth and seventeen miles from Richmond. The nearest large town is Darlington, twenty nine miles away, which has both bus and railway stations. The nearest airport is Teesside, thirty five miles away.

Within easy motoring distance lie the market towns of Richmond (Norman Castle), Barnard Castle (Bowes Museum), and Leyburn and Middleham (racehorse training). See brochures in the cottage for more details.

Facilities
Hollow End self catering cottage is on three floors and has oil-fired central heating and constant hot water; fitted carpets throughout, and beautiful views from the lounge and bedroom windows.

Kitchen and dining area
Ample fitted units, electric cooker, microwave, fridge and the usual kitchen equipment and utensils. Dining area for 4 persons.

Lounge
TV, coffee table, bookcase and games cupboard. Large sofa-bed and easy chair. Small "Yukon" potbellied stove. 

Bedroom
Build-in double bed, single fold-up Z-bed, wardrobe space and shelves, two chests of drawers.

Shower Room
Shower, hand basin, WC.

There is parking space within the grounds. 

There are no extras - central heating, hot water, electricity, linen are all included. A cot and high chair are available (please provide cot bedding).

Prices

Guests normally arrive at 3pm on the first day and depart at 10am on the final day.
